This course fills two (2) credits towards the six (6) Science credits required for graduation.
Biology is the study of living things. In this lab-based course, students examine the concepts of cells, heredity, evolution, the interdependence of organisms, organization within and among living things, and the behavior of organisms. Students develop an understanding of what can be observed in the natural world and through scientific experimentation.
Biology is also offered as an EL course. EL Biology is designed for non-native English speakers. It helps develop the academic language and science practices necessary for further coursework.
Also offered as a Bilingual course. Bilingual Biology is designed for students whose home language is Spanish. This course will use both Spanish and English to facilitate students' learning of content and of English.
