AP Physics 1&2 are equivalent to a two-semester college physics course, such as those required for a liberal arts degree. The major goals of the course are for the student to understand the basic principles of physics and apply those principles to the solution of problems. The broad range of topics that are covered include mechanics, thermodynamics and heat, electricity and magnetism, waves and optics and modern physics. Class meets an additional half period on two days each week. This college-level course will qualify the student to take the new Advanced Placement Physics 1 and Physics 2 exams, which may provide college credit.
