This course fills two (2) credits towards the six (6) Science credits required for graduation.
This course is designed to be the equivalent of a one-semester college environmental science course. Students identify and analyze environmental problems, both natural and human-made, the risks associated with these problems, and alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.
This course is interdisciplinary and touches on the fields of ecology, chemistry, biology, and geology, along with history, sociology, and economics. In order to have extended laboratory time, class meets an extra half period two days per week. This college-level course will qualify the student to take the Advanced Placement Environmental Science exam, which may provide one semester of college credit.
