This course is designed to be the equivalent of the general chemistry course usually taken during the first college year. It is a rigorous math-based course with a strong laboratory component, and is recommended for strong science students who plan a college major in science, engineering or medicine. Topics of study include structure of matter, states of matter, chemical reactions, descriptive chemistry and chemical calculations.
Class meets an additional half period on two days each week. This college-level course will qualify the student to take the Advanced Placement Chemistry exam, which may provide college credit in chemistry.
