The Elk Grove FFA School Farm is a hands-on learning environment located behind the football field on the Elk Grove High School campus. Each year, the farm is home to more than 140 animals including hogs, steers, lambs, goats, rabbits, chickens, and turkeys. All students enrolled in agriculture classes have the opportunity to visit and work at the farm while learning about animal care, agricultural science, and the daily responsibilities of running a farm. The farm supports both market and breeding livestock operations, and students may choose to raise their own animals as part of their Supervised Agricultural Experience projects. Nearly all market animals raised at the farm are shown and sold at the Sacramento County Fair, where students showcase their efforts and build career skills. The farm teaches students where their food comes from, how to ethically raise and care for animals, and prepares them for careers in agriculture, veterinary science, and related fields, while also helping them develop responsibility, confidence, and a strong work ethic.
