What is an SAE?
What is an SAE?
An SAE, or supervised agricultural experience, involves agriculural activities and research outside the classroom. There are many different types of SAE's, and each carries its own requirements. Elk Grove FFA encourages students to start their own SAE, and build up on it throughout their time in high school. We have many members recognized annually at California State FFA Leadership Conference with their SAE's each year, and some are even able to be recognized and compete on the National FFA Convention stage with their projects! SAE in the Three Ring Model of Ag Education
SAE is a vital part of the three ring model where learning comes to life. Alongside FFA and classroom instruction, SAE contains the best elements of both. Members are able to take the skills they learn in the classroom, and apply them to their SAE project. They learn by doing! With help from their agricultural teachers, students develop an SAE project based on one or more SAE categories and can even enter their project in competitions! Students at Elk Grove FFA partake in an Agriscience Experimental SAEs, various market animal SAEs, and even have a dedicated class for Agricultural Job SAEs!
