Epping Forest SEMH Provisions

Epping Forest SEMH Provisions are funded by Essex Local Authority to meet the needs of local schools by offering early intervention to children before their difficulties reach the stage where exclusion is being considered. By reframing misbehaviour as stress behaviour, we can help children, staff and parents to work together to create a fresh start.

Our enhanced provisions are based at White Bridge Primary School in Loughton for KS2 pupils and Lambourne End Primary School in Abridge for KS1 pupils. We support children whose progression in their current school is of concern due to barriers caused by behaviour, emotional well being needs or social difficulties. Some of these children will have had early childhood trauma or attachment difficulties, some may be diagnosed with other differences such as ADHD.

Our curriculum, The 6 Core Strengths, supports children to develop attachment, affiliation, self regulation, awareness, tolerance and respect.

As well as exploring and developing the 6 core strengths through a variety of explicit and expressive activities, children who attend the provisions also engage in more formal learning such as maths, reading, writing and creative arts when they are ready to do so.

The provisions offer 2 levels of support:

Outreach work: When appropriate, provisions can support local schools through consultation, inreach support for staff or a package to support the referring school to work with their pupil in their own setting.

School partnership: A pupil is referred to one of our provisions for two terms, and supported to reintegrate back to the referring school.
