As we head towards Easter, we will be studying our new topic of North America. and there is a very exciting VR (Virtual Reality) experience planned to bring our topic to life! In Science, we will be learning all about the human body and Living Things and our blog will be updated regularly so watch this space. Maths will involve percentages, decimals, fractions and ratio along with algebra and 'Real Life Maths' such as weights, measures and time. In English, we will be writing Non-Chronological Reports and a variety of writing based on the book 'The Giant's Necklace' by Michael Morpurgo. This term, we have been practising out short and long game in PE by learning how to hit different golf shots. We have practised putting, chipping and driving in various games and activities.
The Year 6 Indoor Athletics Team enjoyed the afternoon at Deanes Secondary School where they competed against 7 other schools. All the children competed fantastically and with a positive, supportive attitude towards each other which was fantastic to see. The team finished in 2nd place overall and will receive our silver medals soon. Well done everyone!
This term, Year 6 have been learning all about the physical geography of North America. In English, we have been applying our skills to create our own newly-discovered island-countries. We have been writing about all the land and water features as well as the living things that reside there. In addition, we studied persuasive language used in travel advers and wrote our own radio adverts to entice travellers to these new locations.
In Computing this term, Year 6 have been learning about website design and how to create their own using Google Sites. Take a look at our sites based on North American countries.
