We had lots of fun learning about lots from the Stone Age to Iron Age. Some of our highlights include learning about how humans evolved over time; how they built Stonehenge and racing to build it in our houses; hunting a deer and looking at how the people from the time period fought.
For the last week, we have using Roald Dahl texts as inspiration for our writing. Today we created Dream Jars (linked to Roald Dahl's BFG).
We've started making our classrooms look a little more colourful with all of our work!
We've studied Stone Age artefacts in class and tried to work out what they are!
You can see we've been working hard writing too!
Our email E-Safety Rules:
Here are some of the rules we came up with when discussing email safety in class.
If you don’t recognise someone’s name when you are emailed, tell an adult.
If anyone sends you a message and you don’t know them, don’t reply.
If you are worried about a message, tell a trusted teacher or adult.
If someone sends you a link and you don’t know the person- report it to the teacher.
Never friend people you do not know.
Don’t use other people’s accounts and passwords.
We learnt a little about Stone Age farming. After this we created Stone Age style art!
Year 3 had a special treat this week- yoga! We were visited by some brilliant (socially distanced!) yoga instructors who took us through some moves.
We looked at how we could mix colours to create different shades of poster paint. This was much trickier than we thought it would be BUT the end result was amazing!
Year 3 have been learning about 3D shapes this week. As part of our learning, we had lots of fun creating 3D shapes out of spaghetti and marshmallows.
We created some poems as a class. The children had some great suggestions. We think we wrote an amazing poem together!
How to make a golden lion
Take,
the fiery petals of a sunflower in August,
the golden glow of freshly cut hay in the summer
for his mane
Take,
the crash of a furious giant stomping through the forest,
the fiery breath of a dragon
for his voice
Take,
the point of a shark’s tail as it hunts its prey,
the sharp, needle-like tip of a T-rex’s claw
for his teeth
Take,
the burning fury of the hottest sun in the galaxy,
the glint of a bronze shield before battle
for his coat
We have worked together in class learning all about the benefits of team work.
