For my Personal project, I decided to create an educational website for children. This website includes various tutorials on Vedic Math methods, and was coded using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I have written tutorials on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division methods (these come in handy when using really large numbers!).
There are a lot of children who struggle to grasp the basics of mathematics, and even for those who do, it can become really brain-wracking when it comes to large numbers. Different students have different learning methods, and so I decided to add animations for visual aid. In addition to that, I also added quizzes at the end of each page for those who want to test their knowledge. My goals for this project was to help children as well as to learn and strengthen my coding and animation skills. The journey for this project was a long and challenging one, since I had to learn two completely new coding languages and also learn to animate. Now that I am happy with the outcome of my project, I am confident I can add more new techniques to make maths fun for everyone!
Tips for future 9th graders:
Do not procrastinate! The earlier you start, the better. I started working on my project during the summer, which really helped me when I had a bunch of exams piled up later on. Time management is key for this project since you will be juggling both schoolwork and the personal project at the same time
Choose a topic that you are interested in! Motivation is the main thing that gets you through this journey and helps you complete your project.
Have fun :)
Good luck!
