This challenge will develop hand eye co-ordination and the student’s ability to track objects. Tracking objects is used in all motor skills such as catching, striking and kicking.
Balloon Tap Station
You need:
a balloon (a scrunched-up newspaper ball or tennis ball will work too),
a bat (otherwise use your hand)
I can strike a balloon with my hand 15 times in a row without the balloon hitting the ground
I can strike a balloon with my hand 15 times without moving
I can strike a balloon with a bat 10 times without the balloon hitting the ground
I can strike a ball with a bat 10 times without the ball hitting the ground
Balloon tricks:
Try using other parts of your body to keep the balloon up e.g. kick, knee, shoulder, and head.
Try closing your eyes and seeing how many strikes you can do before the balloon hits the ground.
Goal Setting:
Record your personal best score of strikes. Set a goal for yourself (e.g. I want to strike a ball with my hand more than 25 times)
I want to strike a ball with my hand ______times.
Feel free to upload your videos onto the Celebration wall.
We have started practising for our Athletics carnival and have been looking at our differnt events. This week we will look at running and how fast humans can run. Watch the video attached and then time yourself running. You might want to measure out 100m (or 100 long steps) and see how fast you can run that compared to Usain Bolt? Now try to run even faster the next time.
Feel free to upload your running onto the Celebration wall.
If you are looking for some more movement then feel free to follow along with Joe.

Dear parents,
It was evident from our first Remote learning that there were a lot of challenges for families to juggle with the learing of all their children. I am a mum of three busy boys and found it hard to juggle all their needs at once. With this in mind the focus for learning in PE during our time at home will be focused on engagement. Trying to get students to engage in their own learning through offering open ended learning tasks. This will take shape of the TCPS Olympics.
Each week students will be afforded the opportunity to compete and create events based around a theme. The first theme I have choosen is throwing events as our younger studnets are very competent in throwing. The students can follow my instructions to complete the event posted or can create events of their own. This allows them to follw their interests and use their creativity. Also allowing for the activity to take a small amount or a large amount of time for each child. The activities will be designed to be cross age and hopefully our older siblings can encourage and support our younger learners or our young learners may even involve their even younger siblings.
Please share their learning on the Celebration Wall so students can earn house points for their efforts.
I hope this makes Wednesdays an enjoyable and engaging day for both you and your children.
