These are articles on past students of Horsham College and the point of these articles is to see where they are today and how they got there and to let current students know that it doesn’t matter if you do Victorian Certificate Applied Learning or a Victorian Certificate of Education you can still accomplish your goals.

Beau Cross

Owner of Kelly Sports

Beau did VCE and graduated in year 12. Beau knew what he enjoyed was sports and teaching young learners and what he was interested in and knew what pathway he wanted to take, and now is a proud owner of Kelly Sports. Beau would make sure that he picks the subjects that were of interest to him if he could redo school. Beau encourages everyone to follow their passion.

Eddie Nsanzimana

Youth Engagement and Advocacy Officer

Eddie did VCAL and graduated in year 12. Eddie wanted to be a builder, and halfway through year 11, he started doing a placement at Nexus youth centre. Now by doing his placement he is a youth engagement and advocacy officer for the Queensland program of assistance to survivors of torture and trauma. Eddie suggests finding something that you enjoy doing and basing it on things you are interested in.

Sam Anson

Online Mentor/ Stay at home dad

Sam completed VCAL and graduated year 12. Sam enjoyed his schooling, didn’t regret anything. During his schooling Sam wanted to be a builder by completing an apprenticeship. Sam is now a stay-at-home dad, while also running an online business which is run from his phone connecting with people on health and wellness. He enjoyed his subjects, but wishes he paid more attention in geography to understand where places are in the world. Sam’s advice is to follow your passion and be open to all ideas. You never know what your path will be and what can change in your life.


Kirsty McClelland

Beauty Therapist

Kirsty completed VCE unscored and graduated year 12. She is happy with her schooling year. Kirsty spend most of the time wishing to finish school and get to out, now reflecting wishes she didn’t take school for granted. She is now a Beauty Therapist at Salon Mode. She enjoys her job in the beauty industry. She doesn’t see herself staying in the career forever. She’s wanting to complete a Uni course in a different industry to benefit her future. Kirsty’s advice would be don’t be pressured into finding a career straight away, take it slow and find something you’ll enjoy in the long run.
