Foundation - Grade 4: Students and teachers are not using Google Classroom. Please see the 'How To Use SeeSaw' page.
Grade 5/6: Students will use Google Classroom to communicate with their teachers and peers, as well as to complete tasks and respond to assignments. Students have used this platform to complete homework in Term 1, and should be familiar with it.
On Google Classroom, we expect the same good manners and good communication that we expect at school.
On the 'stream' on Google Classroom, students are able to 'comment' and 'post'. This means they can create a post that everybody else can see and respond to, as well as respond to a task or teacher question. The site is purely for educational discussions. If students create a post that is not relevant to the learning, it will be removed by a teacher. This ensures the stream does not get overcrowded.
All staff and students can see all of the comments and posts made by students. If we deem posts or comments to be inappropriate, parents will be notified.
Remember, you are not chatting with your friends - you are talking to your principal, teacher and class mates.
Be polite and kind to everyone, including the teachers.
Do not use put downs (eg. this is boring).
If you are frustrated - ask for help nicely. We are doing the best we can.
Use good grammar (not text slang - eg. wot's up?)
Remember to use punctuation when you type (capital letters, full stops, question marks).
Don't respond to another student question by answering 'I don't know'. Just leave it, and hopefully someone else can answer.
Remember:
Anything you post on Google Classroom can be seen by all of the teachers and students in Grade 5/6. If you wouldn't say it to your teacher, do not post it.
All posts and comments should be relevant to learning.
If you don't know the answer to somebody else's question, there is no need to comment.
Common Problems With Logging In
It doesn't ask me to log in. - Another account may already be logged in on your device. Check the top right corner, there may be a little circle with a letter in it. If there is, click on it to see which account is logged in. If somebody else is logged in, click on 'Add Another Account' to log in with your EduPass account.
The EduPass log-in box gives me an error - You may have accidentally typed your username or password incorrectly. Make sure you have used the right capital letters, punctuation and spelling. If you think you've forgotten your details, let a teacher know. If you are certain you've put in the right details and it's still not working, let a teacher know.
My classes aren't showing up on the Google Classroom home page. - Check that you are logged in to your EduPass account (click the little circle in the top right corner). If you are, ask your teachers for the class code. Click the + button and join your class.
Common Problems:
I can't see my work after I've submitted it! - Make sure you wait at least 10 seconds for your work to upload properly. It will look like nothing is happening on your iPad, but be patient! If it still doesn't work, try again.
It won't accept the file I want to upload! - Try saving your work as a PDF, or take screenshots of your work and upload it from photos.
I have multiple files to submit! - That's fine! Attach them all, and click 'Hand In' once all of them are attached. If you need to add more files after you've clicked 'Hand In', you'll need to click 'Unsubmit' and attach the rest of the files.
Please feel free to contact your teacher. We understand that technology can be frustrating, and we are here to help. While you're waiting for a response, search Google or YouTube for an answer - often they explain it better than we can!
