If you have too many applications open at the same time you can waste time hunting for the one that you need. So why not create a Virtual Desktop or two or three and sort out your work so that it is easily accessible.
Find the Task View Icon on the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen and click on it.
The other use for the Task View Icon is that you can see all the Windows open on the desktop and you can easily click on the one you want to use.
You will see at the top "Desktop 1" and "New Desktop"
Click on "New Desktop" and you will get "Desktop 2" appear.
Click on "Desktop 2" and you will have a blank desktop. Now you can open any Programs you want.
To go back to your original desktop press CTRL+WIN(windows Key) and then the left or right arrow. This will shift you back and forth between the Virtual Desktops.
HINT: Open your department windows on one desktop (Sentral, Portal, Outlook etc) and then change desktops (CTRL+ WIN+->(arrow)) and open other applications like Word, Excel etc on another, and even another for your Internet browser.
Use it for Privacy by quickly shifting the desktop to another, when you have student details etc visible and someone comes to your computer that should not be privy to the information on screen.
