Department-developed resources

Anzac resources commemorate the centenary of World War I and can be used in a range of key learning areas and Stages.

NSW ecosystems on show highlights fifteen natural ecosystems found in New South Wales. Each resource has been designed for students investigating ecosystem types in NSW, providing a greater understanding of their location, function, how they are impacted by human activity and how schools and communities can work to protect them.

The Collaboratus series of resources embeds the use of online collaboration tools such as Google G Suite for Education and Microsoft Office 365 into future focused learning and teaching activities. Each resource addresses a specific learning stage and key learning areas.

• Refugees welcome here (Stage 4 English, geography or visual arts ) – students undertake a hands-on project designed to welcome refugees into their local community.

• The Chinese Question (Stage 5 History) – students investigate the causes of tension between Chinese migrants and Colonial Australians in the 1900s.

• Through the gate (Stage 2 English and visual arts) – students learn to think like authors and illustrators to collaboratively publish a picture book and organise a launch event for the book. View this Filmpond case study.

• Truth be told (Stage 5 English) – students learn about the English textual concepts as they collaborate to research and create a personal story.

• Waking up in Japan (Stage 4 mandatory or Stage 5 elective Japanese) – students research a topic of cultural interest in Japan and collaborate on a digital or live presentation that demonstrates their learning.

• Waking up in Indonesia (Stage 4 mandatory or Stage 5 elective Indonesian) – students research a topic of cultural interest in Indonesia and collaborate on a digital or live presentation that demonstrates their learning.

• How does your garden grow? (Stage 1 or 2 Science, Geography, Maths and PDHPE) – student  develop an understanding of the seasons, as well as the influences on what, when and where we plant our fruit and vegetables. They can design and build a school garden.
