Semester 2 has been a productive and positive time for our Year 8 students, with many showing improvement in wearing their uniform with pride and engaging meaningfully in literacy activities. Each day during Session 3, students spend ten minutes reading to strengthen their vocabulary and comprehension skills, and through the Reading Renaissance program, we have seen steady growth in reading ages, with progress being tracked and celebrated.
A special congratulations goes to Ali Alouie for his outstanding participation in the whole-school literacy initiative, his commitment to completing the “Word of the Week” activity earned him a well-deserved prize, a novel of his choice, Ninja Kid 2 by Anh Do.
This term, 8K students also enjoyed a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens for a tour of the bush tucker garden, where they sampled native foods such as Davidson plum, Native Raspberry, and Black Apple. Guided by Lachlan, who shared his extensive knowledge of the plants’ cultural, historical, and scientific significance, students enjoyed a sunny day learning about Indigenous culture and Australia’s diverse environment.
Year 8 students approached their recent exam week with effort and determination across all subjects. We are proud of the growth they have shown this year and look forward to seeing their continued development and enthusiasm as they move into Year 9 and begin their chosen electives
