This session is aimed at those staff members who may be looking to apply for positions within the DoE. Participants will gain an insight into the process as well as developing a wider understanding of how to prepare yourself better with tips related to CV requirements and your performance in the interview. This is a repeat session which was presented by Suellen earlier in this term.
The second session focuses more on how to perform better when being interviewed.
This session aims to assist all staff in further developing their capacity to write quality plain language student reports. As we all know writing reports can sometimes become a grind. This workshop will help you to improve your workflow as well as becoming more aware of common pitfalls that may result in comments being returned for correction. This is a great opportunity to develop your comment bank as well as sharing tips and tricks amongst your colleagues.
This is a mandatory workshop for any teacher who takes Sport on Monday's. In this session teachers will be provided with the knowledge required to actively facilitate sports sessions as well as gaining a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of being a Sport teacher.
What’s so special about design thinking? Design thinking is certainly not the exclusive property of designers, it is a work process that enables us to apply human-centered design principles to the problems we face in design, businesses, society and our lives. This workshop aims to introduce individuals to design thinking so that staff can facilitate a process which will assist students to think and creatively solve problems in a range of subjects.
This session will explore how we can make assessment more valuable in demonstrating students learning. We will unpack the concept of 'rigour' and consider how this can be applied to our assessment practices. We will also design our own criteria for assessment which you can take back to your faculties.
This session is for teachers who would like to find out more about supervising a Preservice Teacher at CGHS for the first time. Being a supervisor has multiple benefits - for reflecting on your own teaching practice, for the preservice teacher, and for your faculty - many great 'praccies' have joined the Cheltenham staff! As well as an overview of what's involved as a supervisor, you will be given time to start the (free) online AITSL 'Supervising Preservice Teachers' course - it is now a requirement of DET that module 2 is completed, and counts towards more than 3 hours of registered course hours with NESA. Please note that you have to be registered as Proficient, HAT or LEAD to be a Supervisor of Preservice Teachers.
This session is aimed specifically at those staff who are working towards gaining proficient accreditation. Participants will gain a clear insight into the process which needs to be undertaken as well as learning useful tips from those who have previously undertaken this step. Staff will also have an opportunity to log their PD hours using ETAMS.
The Question Formulation Technique (QFT), created by the Right Question Institute, helps all people create, work with, and use their own questions — building skills for lifelong learning, self-advocacy, and democratic action. By the end of the session you will have the skills to implement this technique in your classroom.
ALARM is a powerful tool that helps improve literacy and assists students with composing written responses for assessment tasks and exams. This session aims to introduce staff to the ALARM scaffold which can be utilised by students to compose more sophisticated written responses.
