*TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!*
As Mrs Gardyne said, we worked really hard on planning, writing, editing, drafting and publishing our own narrative stories.
We had lots of fun using our CREATIVITY, FOCUS and SENSE MAKING skills as well as COLLABORATING and COMMUNICATING when reading each other's writing to give effective TAG feedback.

We recently completed our latest class novel 'Cirque Du Freak' by Darren Shan. It was an intriguing read, belonging to the Horror/Spooky genre with lots of twists and turns, which we really enjoyed!
Lots of us are interested in finding out what happens in Book 2 of the 12 Series Saga... Check out our 'WANTED' inspired posters of the 'freaks' from the Freakshow that featured in the novel.
Who intrigues you the most? Why?

LEARNERS LEADING LEARNING
Recently, we have been developing our LEADERSHIP skills.
We enjoyed planning and participating in a session with P2B at Letham Mains Primary. We worked collaboratively in groups to plan and teach lessons to design and build themed rulers and kingdoms, as part of their Kings & Queens topic. This aligned with the learning we did on Monarchy as part of our P7 focus on Government.
It was a fantastic experience involving lots of responsibility, independence, creativity and fun!

Welcome back!
Hope you had a great
February holiday! ❤
We have made new home tables and names like Fanta Fishes, Famous French Croissants, The Funky Floppy Flip Flops, The Fantastic Funky Freddos, The Fabulously Fantastic Froggy Flapjacks and The Floppy Funky Fishy Flamingos.
Check out our logos and LEGO challenge builds...
For this, we created co-operative learning placemats on things we liked beginning with 'F' for February to find commonalities.
We were using collaboration, communication and focus.

TIME DURATIONS! We have been exploring Durations of Time.
We enjoyed participating in some active challenges to estimate the length of time tasks would take. We then completed the tasks to compare the actual durations. We used lots of meta-skills including FOCUS, PROBLEM SOLVING, DOING THE RIGHT THING and COLLABORATION. How quick do you think you would be?
*sharpen 5 pencils *stand up/sitdown 20 times *hop 50 times
*write your name *measure, draw a rectangle *JANUARY 2025*
TIME!
*JANUARY 2025*
This week we started a new Maths Time topic. On post its, we shared current knowledge and had a think about what we've still got to learn. As part of our LEGO challenge we collaborated to create a new Smart Watch or Time Device with some special features.
Check them out below!
🥳 HAPPY NEW YEAR! HAPPY 2025! 🎉
In art this week, we made firework disco ball 'one word' collages! We used different paint techniques as you can see from the photos below. Creativity was the main skill we used!
We also did a word search to help us find a 'word' that we could try use as inspiration for the rest of the year. We had to be curious to solve problems in this task.
Some of our words were... adventurous, joy, achieve, organise, happy and calm.
*JANUARY 2025* - Tech Gurus Jacob & Matty
RME This term we are exploring Christian stories from the Old Testament.
To begin, we learned about the 7 Days of Creation. We took notes from a video and then worked in teams to illustrate one of the specific days with LEGO. Afterwards, we had to conduct a learning walk to try and work out which day each group had made. We enjoyed this task - it involved many skills including CREATIVITY, FOCUS, COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION, CURIOUSITY, SENSE MAKING and PROBLEM SOLVING.
Can you guess which is which?

in p7c we have been creating spooky self portraits inspired by tim burton. His style is very gothic and creepy.
here are the ones we did:
Famous Mathematicians and Numeral Systems
In P7c we have been making some posters about mathematicians and important numeral systems from the past. These include Ada Lovelace, Alan Turing, Roman Numerals, the Phoenician number system, Albert Einstein and many more!!!

We have learned loads throughout our WWII topic! This week we rounded off by looking at VE Day.
We have really enjoyed exploring this novel.
Lots of mystery alongside WWII links!
We had fun this week using macaroni speech marks to structure dialogue within our writing.
*October 2024*
Since the September weekend we have been working hard to develop our use of PUNCTUATION. Each week we learn a new mark to add to our team of Punctuation. We are working hard to use these marks correctly and are aiming for 80% of our class to achieve (at least 6) accurately punctuated sentences by the October break!
We are striving for this 6 consecutive times.
Our team so far: ABC . , ? ! " "
After each lesson, we use a RUN CHART to track progress!
We really enjoy the suspense and build up to find out what % we get!
^ ^ ^ ^ Take a look at how we're doing so far! ^ ^ ^ ^
In 7C we do Spelling every week!
*On a Monday we elect new Spelling Managers. They take on a leadership role within the group. We all listen to our new words, try to remember them, work out the pattern and collaboratively spell them. We then write them in our jotter, check dictionary definitions and if you are finished you can write some sentences to show you understand the meaning.
*On Tuesdays we write them in our jotter again with the Spelling Managers saying them aloud to their groups. Once we have written them all down we find out how many syllables each word has and think about what type of words they are.
*On Wednesdays we do Hold a Sentence. Spelling Managers create sentences for their groups and model them, with their group repeating and identifying how many words in the sentence. Sometimes we use different voices/expression!
*On Thursday we up-level our sentence work by thinking about synonyms and other elements of VCOP! We do this in more active ways.

Code Cracking
This week we have been exploring code cracking from World War II.
We made some and we cracked some.
During this we learned a bit about Alan Turing who is a very famous mathematician and would crack German codes using an enigma machine during WWII!
As you can see we have pictures of the class cracking the codes that we made in pairs... it was a great challenge!

World War II Homework💣
We have been working on World War II homework and here are some of the results...
There were Anderson shelters, drawings, medals, research, posters and planes.
*Tech Gurus-Celia & Ruairidh- September 2024*
We have been learning about why and how children were evacuated during World War II.
We made tea stained evacuee tags, and some flyers too about the WWII evacuation scheme using the 5Ws.
This was also known as Operation Pied Piper.
*Tech Gurus - Jacob & Louis- September 2024*
In P7C we have been had a go at creating symmetrical art of people who had a leadership role in WWII. We learned who they are, what side they were on and what country they led. We also found out some information about the kind of leaders they were and discussed qualities of a good leader. Some of these people were Hitler, Mussolini, Winston Churchill and Hideki Tojo.
*Tech Gurus - Jacob & Louis- September 2024*
These amazing posters, made in P7C, are about our class novel a Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park (FUN FACT... A Long Walk To Water is actually based on a true story!)
A long walk to water is about two people in South Sudan - one running away from a civil war, the other trying to find water.
*Tech Gurus - Jacob & Louis- September 2024*
SOUTH SUDANESE TUKULS
Tukuls are South Sudanese huts. They are the equivalent to the homes we live in. They are made out of mud, straw, clay and wood for the fences.
We had a go at making our own... what do you think?
*Tech Gurus - Jacob & Louis- September 2024*
In 7C this week we created our class charter. We looked at the UNCRC articles that are important to us and each designed our own medal as our signature. We agreed what our mission is as a class.
We aim to follow our charter at all times.
*Tech Gurus -Matty & Louie - August 2024*
These are our Zone Stones. Everyday we put them on a zone that we feel.
Mrs Waterston will check in with us if we are not in the green zone.

*August 2024*
Over the first few days in P7 we created new home teams where we made team identities. Check out our common thread names and logos...
Each week we collect table points which equal lego pieces. On Fridays we take part in a Lego Challenge where we work collaboratively to build against a criteria. Check out our 1st and 2nd place from this week... winners get cushions for the week!
(Theme was inspired by House Captain speeches, A Long Walk to Water work and WWII destruction)
We have been thinking about a 'growth mind-set' and the ways in which you can approach a challenge. We completed a 'Give One, Get One' activity where we shared the negative and positive thoughts or sayings we might use when faced with something challenging. We then used these ideas to design a poster symbolising a challenge as a 'journey'.
We aim to use 'The Learning Pit' analogy in 7C this year to become
more resilient learners and better problem solvers.
