ENVIRONEMTNAL ENERGY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

This Project shall be implemented by Graduate School of Frontier Science, the University of Tokyo (GSFS-UTokyo) to establish a model for “Environmental Energy Community Development” at a target town called Shinchi in Fukushima Prefecture, in collaboration with National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) and Shinchi Town of Fukushima Prefecture.

In “Shinchi Urban Design Center” that provides a platform for local coordination between public, private and universities, the Project shall steadily promote an integrated local management and community development, comprising big data analyses regarding local energy monitoring, an establishment of future visions on community energy systems through examining scenarios, and the consideration of settlement environments based on social dynamics analyses and the understanding of needs through active communication with local residents. Furthermore, the Project intends to play a role in human resources development for the future of Shinchi, by having graduate students participate in this process to enable practical learning and research based on field experiences.
