In Dignity, we believe in the value of ongoing professional learning through various approaches, such as interactive training sessions, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and self-paced learning modules.

A training session titled "Introduction to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)" conducted for all teachers in Dignity.
The purpose of this one-hour training was to establish a shared understanding of SEL and its importance. The session briefly covered implementation in classrooms — through explicit instruction and integration into all academic areas.
Departments: Lower Primary
Promoting adult SEL is crucial to equip and empower teachers who are responsible to deliver SEL lessons, model SEL skills, and integrate SEL into all aspects of learning.
This training session was designed to create space for introspection and reflection. Teachers were introduced to implicit bias and cultural responsiveness, following which they thought about their own multicultural identity.
Departments: Lower Primary
What does SEL look like, sound like, and feel like? At Dignity, we want every classroom to be a safe and welcoming environment where students can learn and thrive in a community. This should be reflected in the physical space as well as the classroom culture.
In this training session, topics covered include the Montessori classroom, Dignity 6S system, and Peace Corners. Teachers were also introduced to restorative practices as an approach to behaviour management.
Research overwhelmingly supports the positive connection between social and emotional learning (SEL) skills and student success in academics and life. In this session, we explore the definition of SEL and the CASEL 5.
Strengthening adult SEL is the key to building expertise, skills and confidence in promoting and modelling SEL for children. This session addresses implicit bias and cultural responsiveness, as well as the topic of self-care.
SEL can be infused into all aspects of the classroom through teaching strategies and best practices. This session covers SEL 3 signature practices, supportive learning environments and restorative practices.
Integrating SEL into lessons requires educators to plan with purpose and intention. Teachers must be able to model SEL, identify teachable moments, and adapt SEL strategies for the age group or subject taught.
Department: Preschool
