You must complete an enrolment form to enrol a child at Edendale Primary School. We still require one enrolment form per child if you have several children. You will also need to be in our enrolment zone. The address that counts is the address you are permanently residing at on the date of enrolment. (See Out of Zone if you do not reside in our Enrolment Zone. The Enrolment Zone map is below.)
We will need to photocopy your child's birth certificate and copy their record of immunisations.
If you are from overseas, we require a copy of your child's student visa, which should be included in their passport.
Should there be any concerns about custody, we require copies of all court orders.
Should your child have a medical condition requiring treatment, we advise getting spare medication, such as an inhaler or EPI-PEN, and storing it at school.
Edendale Primary School is subject to an Enrolment Scheme. Children residing outside of our Enrolment Zone are required to apply. Application times for 2026 are below. We advise applying well in advance of your child's enrolment date, should you live outside our Enrolment Zone.

Please reach out to the school office at 03 206 6959 for more information.
Below is the map with its description to help you determine whether you are in our enrolment zone.
You can complete an online enrolment here. You must have your child's medical details and certified copies of the birth certificate, passport, and any visa documents to upload before beginning. Please provide the details of two caregivers.
You can upload certified copies of your child's birth certificate, visa documentation, and in-zone enrolment proof to your online enrolment, or you will need to bring the original documents to the school office.
Once you arrive at school, you will also need to review and sign our consent form and provide some additional information regarding preschool attendance at the school office.
The New Entrant teacher will arrange a number of school visits to help children transition into school as smoothly as they can.
We encourage children on these visits to be in full uniform.
Children on pre-school visits are not allowed to use the bus service. They must be dropped off and picked up by parents.
Our school runs a pre-school programme for future enrolments. We meet twice a year with the parents and cover the expectations of the school in regards to literacy, maths, oral language and being ready for school.
Please ensure you have completed an enrolment forecast so we can have you in our system.
We are required by the Ministry of Education to forecast 2-3 years ahead for our roll returns. Advising us of your child's details early is beneficial to both the school and family.
We love having our children at school every day possible. It is good to ensure that the momentum of learning continues.
However, due to illness, there are times when staying at home is the right thing to do.
See below guidance from the Ministry of Health and two charts relating to childhood illnesses that we use to guide our advice.
There are times when children are away from school for extended periods of time.
Please complete this online extended absence form should that occur for your child/ren.
Please note that for holidays, we do not require or expect teachers to provide additional material for children. This is the parents' responsibility.
