Grade Disagreement between Groups

Get together and talk

You, the other group, and the SGL should try talking this through to begin with to see if agreement can be reached. This can be done by each group explaining their reasoning, and then discussing the way forward.

Be aware of your surroundings and your colleagues when talking through this disagreement. You may like to step out if space permits and you need to have a frank discussion away from anyone who may have been involved in the creation of the portfolio.

Third review

If the difference is irreconcilable at this stage and the conditions on the day permit, the SGL may ask another experienced teacher to undertake a third review. The SGL may choose to undertake this third review themselves. This would lead to an outcome agreed on by the majority of reviewers.

If the difference is still irreconcilable after this stage, a supplementary review can be requested.

If it can't be solved

If it can't be solved, the grade will be affirmed on the day, and the SGL will note the portfolio for supplementary review with the Office of the BSSS moderation coordinator. This means that another person who was not involved on the day will review the portfolio so that feedback can be supplied to the school.

If you'd like to be a supplementary reviewer, let us know! We are always looking for people. Email bsssenquiries@act.gov.au if you wish to volunteer.
