The MCSS Talented Athlete Program (TAP) is designed to enhance the sporting performance of students selected, through a holistic approach to their athletic development. We believe a successful athlete needs to focus not only on skill development but nutrition, goal setting, motivation, correct recovery, leadership, injury prevention and rehabilitation, cross training and tactics strategy to become as successful as possible within their chosen sport.
The MCSS TAP program offers students a multi-faceted platform in which they can be practically and academically engaged and extended. As part of this program students will be exposed to a variety of sessions that run across the academic year.
These sessions will include
Australian Institute of Sport recovery sessions
Sports leadership training
Professional Coaching observation seminars
Professional fitness testing
Sports Injuries seminar with family members
Fitness coaching & training
Attendance at a major sporting event
Athlete mentoring and focus sessions
The MCSS Talented Athlete program collaborates with Extra Mile Physiotherapy in providing an injury assessment clinic for our athletes, UCRISE in undertaking Fitness testing for our athletes and Club Lime – Gymmy PT in providing weekly personal training sessions for our squad.
Students who are selected in the TAP program come from a variety of sports. As part of the selection process we look for students who are competing at representative level, as well as those students who are involved in their sport as coaches and officials. Athletes are asked to complete the application form that can be found on the MCSS website and submit it to the TAP Coordinator via email. Applications need to be supported with reference letters from the student’s coach and / or club.
Many of our TAP athletes have gone on to represent the ACT and Australia in their chosen sport and we are very proud to be part of their sporting journey and success.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss any aspect of your student’s inclusion in the MCSS TAP program.
