MCSS offers Music, Dance and Drama at tertiary and accredited levels as well as IB. Performing Arts has a strong tradition at MCSS with many opportunities for students to perform.
The college theatre is a valuable asset to our performing arts program and all performing arts students have the opportunity to perform in this space.
The music facilities at MCSS include a large music room with rehearsal rooms for individual practice. Students also have access to the grand piano in the theatre due to the proximity to the music room. Students have the opportunity to perform at assemblies and concerts during the year.
Dance students collaborate with one another to choreograph dances and work towards various performances throughout the year. These include, Dancefest and Sydney Dance Eisteddfod. Our annual Dance Showcase attracts large audiences and features dances from years 7-12 and our feeder primary schools as part of our Regional Arts Program. Our senior dancers act as mentors for dancers from younger years and our feeder primary schools. Dance students also have access to the theatre to prepare and rehearse their performances.
Drama students work as a team to deliver quality drama productions at the end of each semester as part of their drama units. The refurbished drama room is used to prepare and rehearse these productions, and their final performances are often performed in the theatre.
Drama and dance students enjoy working towards a common goal and all our performing arts students enjoy the performing opportunities offered to them.
