The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is available to Yr 11 and 12 students who would like to extend the challenge in their academic journey at Melba Copland Secondary School. In the ACT, studying the full Diploma offers students a second ATAR but more importantly, many universities preference IB students through their selection model. This is because the Diploma not only is a highly esteemed internationally recognised certification for Yr 12, it requires participation in service to our community and building wide skills including sport, music etc.
The academic programme is rigorous, requiring the study of 6 subjects across the curriculum. Students with a full Diploma may find opportunities and scholarships available in universities across the world. Students at MCSS can also elect to complete just one or two of their subject choices as IB Diploma courses. This will also add to their university application status, showing a willingness to undertake additional academic challenge.
