School Captains
School Captains
School captains represent the whole school, staff, students and school community. School Captains are leaders, independent and reliable. They are able to inspire others and are respected members of the school community. Four school Captains (two school Captains and two school Vice-Captains) are elected to represent the student body. A male and female student will be elected in each position and are elected in a process involving all students and staff. Students who have been selected for LEAD will be eligible to run for school captain. The captains have specific roles and responsibilities and are expected to be role models to other students. The development of leadership skills, within students, is recognised as being fundamental to building strong communities. Canberra High School seeks to enhance student leadership skills and student voice through a number of initiatives, many of which are lead by School Captains. Our goal is to develop leadership skills in every student, promote understanding of what good leadership is, and to have students take ownership of the process of developing their own leadership skills.
