House Captains

Year 9 students nominate during Term 4 and, if voted in by their house, begin their captaincy in Year 10. Students prepare a speech as part of the nomination process.

House Captains 

House captains serve a role of leading their houses towards success with sport, academic and cultural success. House captains provide specific leadership for sports carnivals, battle of the houses. Year 7 term 1 lunch time activities organisation. Involvement and encouragement in school activities such as Burroinjin and staff vs student activities. Their overarching role is to build school culture through building participation and engagement through teams. Every term they give up their recess and lunch to organise and improve house activities for the whole school.

How does this activity promote student voice at CHS

The house captains at CHS provide a vital link between students and teachers, they help organise many large events and provide insightful feedback on how to improve and expand on events at the School. The house captains role is to communicate with their team and make them feel connected through finding student strengths and voices to help them feel connected at CHS. House captains support.  


"As a house captain I help promote student activity. During sports carnivals I encourage students to try out new sports and activities. I also encourage students in my house to try out new academic challenges, such as the maths, history and geography challenges. 

they take a leadership role in the school, helping bring new ideas that students have to teachers and generally helping promote student activity and participation."

As a house captain you get to experience many great learning opportunities and experiences, as a house captain you will get to help out and participate In many of the schools events and activities. House captains help encourage and coordinates many house activities as well.
