The Garden Science Committee is a free PTA-sponsored STEAM-based program for all Aviators!
The rain just won't stop but neither will we! We are in the demolition phase of the old garden beds in both the science and kinder gardens! Thank you to all the volunteers who participated on demo day!
First phase of assembly as completed thanks to our large turnout of volunteer families!!
We learned about the 4 seasons and were engineers for the day building leprechaun traps! We also learned to graph together using lucky charms as our variables!
Today we celebrated the first day of Spring by drawing and painting our favorite bulb flowers in the lasagna garden we assembled. Each student presented their art work. They are so talented! Can you guess the name of our group's favorite flowers?
We built our first Earhart greenhouse and are so excited to plant our seeds for the Spring even though it is cold and rainy outside! We learned to measure the temperature, humidity, and moisture of the greenhouse and the soil inside vs outside. Students learned how to plant seeds and journaled the process over a few weeks. Through journaling, students learned to make observation tables. Finally, towards the end of the month we planted seeds in succession, and we learned about the benefits of succession planting.
