Captivate Student Learning with Pixel Art Mystery- Reveal Activities
Nancy Lin, Nassau BOCESnlin@nasboces.orgGoogle Sheets pixel art mystery-reveal activities have become popular because they work well in any environment (remote, hybrid and in-person) and are highly engaging for students at all grade levels. They are effective formative assessment tools that provide immediate feedback for students. As students enter the correct answer, a mystery image reveals itself. In this workshop you will learn how to edit an existing pixel-art activity using Google Sheets. You will leave this workshop with a large collection of math & science pixel art Google Sheets activities and the know-how to edit the questions and answers to suit your grade level and topic.

Promoting Feedback with Performance Level Descriptors
Michael Fisher (Orleans-Niagara), Benjamin Link (Greater Southern Tier), and Maureen Smith (Broome-Tioga) blink@gstboces.orgThe NYS Office of Assessment has created new resources which unpack the science performance expectations (PEs) from an assessment lens. These resources include the intersections of the Disciplinary Core Ideas, Science and Engineering Practices, and Crosscutting Concepts and describe each level of performance (one through four). Participants will receive a general overview of the Performance Level Descriptor Documents (PLDs), examples identifying differences between the levels, and tools to support student feedback and assessment using the PLDs.
