Thoroughly read through the criteria for each scholarship, as there may be certain requirements that you must meet in order to submit your application for the fund.
Note: The Bay Area Community Foundation Scholarship Application is available November 1 through the first Monday in February. This application allows students to apply for dozens of scholarships with just one application and each year awards $500,000+ to Bay and Arenac County students.
The State of Michigan has a helpful scholarship search engine that generates a PDF of various scholarships broken down by county. Not only is this helpful to see various scholarships in the county you live in, but you can use it to search for scholarships in the county that you might be living in if you attend college out of town.

What is it? FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is needed to get Pell Grants, Michigan Achievement Scholarship, Michigan Community College Guarantee, TIP, and all federal loans. Many scholarship applications will also require a FAFSA.
What is a Pell Grant? Grant money (meaning it does not have to be repaid) awarded by the federal government based on need. Need is determined based on student and parent income, number of students living in the house, investments, etc. The maximum Pell Grant is $7,395.
When should you apply? The FAFSA is available for SENIORS and current college students on October 1, 2025. The sooner it is filed, the better, because some of the aid is first come, first served. The FAFSA should be filed annually.
Click HERE to start a 2026-27 FAFSA form. Do NOT use your school email to apply.
What do I need to apply ? Taxes and w-2s for 2024 for both yourself and your parent or guardian. You will also need access to an email that is not your EHPS email, as well as your social security number.
