In the month of January, our school organized a two-day, one-night trip (6th and 7th Jan) to Wada where students from 10th, 11th and 12th volunteered to join. This camp was designed for students to delve into action-oriented adventure activities along with experiential learning which will contribute towards significant aspects of the CAS and Service Programme for DP & A level students. This camping expedition was an excellent opportunity for the students of Grade 10 to experience the essence of our community outreach programme and enhance their personal and interpersonal skills.
Everyone was supposed to live in a sharing dormitory. Students learnt life skills in this camp. For the service aspect of the program students taught in the local school during the afternoon. Students of all grades volunteered and went through team games to develop cooperation skills. All the students of 11th and 12th were supposed to teach local students in the area. All the students were divided into groups and were given specific states of India to teach about through posters and quizzes. The students who won were given prizes. The students of 10th were taken for seed plantations. We had team games such as KBC and Quiz in the evening. Post dinner, all students and teachers had fun in the DJ. At 11 pm, the lights went off.
The next day, we did thrilling adventures such as trekking and zip lining. Many of the students were scared of doing the activities. We all were given 2-3 adventures to be done. Post lunch, price distribution was held for those groups who won the team games. We came back by evening.
The experience has shown the students the importance of working in a group as well as coordination. This trip gave qualities of the service strand to the students.
