"Cleanliness and order are not matters of instinct; they are matters of education, and like most great things, you must cultivate a taste for them."
- Benjamin Disraeli
In December/ January, the students of Grade 11 from DY Patil International School represented their school at the NMMC Swacchta league, hosted in the district of Belapur, which was just a short distance from the school. The main goal of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and to educate the public on how to maintain it. The function was organised by the local government and aimed to promote the message of keeping the city clean.
The students were tasked with creating posters and cardboard outfits to showcase
the importance of cleanliness. They put their artistic skills to the test by incorporating
inspiring quotes about cleanliness into their designs. The event was a celebration of
culture and education, featuring music performances and traditional Marathi dances,
such as the Koli dance.
One of the most moving performances was by local Marathi artist, Shankar
Mahadevan. His song was not only emotionally impactful, but also informative,
spreading the message of cleanliness to all in attendance.
