The summer between Grade 11 and Grade 12 is the ultimate "bridge" for DP and CP students—a unique window to take the pressure off your future self before the final-year crunch begins. Rather than trying to learn new content, your best approach is strategic consolidation and getting ahead on your major core components. For DP students, this means locking down a solid draft of your Extended Essay (EE), finalizing internal assessments (IAs), and sorting your initial university application lists. For CP students, it is the prime time to finalize Reflective Project research and ensure career-related study portfolios are structurally sound. Balancing this productivity with genuine rest is vital; treating the summer as an active runway ensures you step into Grade 12 with a clear roadmap, minimized stress, and the stamina needed to finish your programme strong.

As you head into the summer break, please keep a close eye on the calendar if you received a grade of 3 or below on your recent Grade 11 end-of-year examinations. While the holidays are a time to unwind, students in this position are required to sit a retrieval exam to ensure their foundational knowledge is secure before the final year kicks off. Please review the official resit timetable carefully so you can plan your rest around your specific subject slots. Dedicating just a small, consistent pocket of your summer to bridging these gaps will ensure you clear this hurdle and return in September ready for a fresh, confident start to Grade 12.
