1) Please check and empty red take home folders/bookbags nightly and store only take home folder, library book, water bottle and lunch in bookbags. Kids tend to put everything from their folders into my basket for me to examine. The best thing to do is put only papers meant for me in their folder/backpack. If I send it home, it’s for you and if you send it back, it’s for me. Please don’t keep weeks and months of papers in backpacks. This makes it very challenging for them to find what they need, when they need it.
2) The ‘Scarlet and Gray' Newsletter is emailed out weekly. It details activities done in class and keeps you informed of upcoming happenings.
3) Monthly calendar - includes important upcoming dates , Related Arts rotation and volunteer schedules along with other important information.
4) Conferences - Fall (all students) and Spring (as needed). Sign ups will be at Curriculum Night. There you will be able to choose your date and time. The fall confeences will be October 9th and 15th . The 'Spring' conferences are scheduled for February 19th and 26th.
5) Grade Cards – obtained electronically, twice per year (January and End of Year). a district video link
You can access your child's progress anytime in Infinite Campus through the parent portal. There are not many grades posted in the early days of kindergarten.
6) E-mail is the most effective way to get in touch with me. There is a link to email me at the end of every newsletter. I try to check before school, during lunch and after school. Keep in mind that I do not check email while I have students so if you have something urgent the best way to communicate that is to contact the office at 614-717-6617 and they will get me the information in a timely fashion. An example of something urgent would be a last minute change in your child’s transportation home or something critical for me to know before dismissal. Also, be aware that if there is a substitute teacher, he/she will not have access to my e-mail, so again, a phone call to the office would be the best course of action if it is of a time sensitive nature.
7) If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, I would like to provide adidtional support at school. I understand that you are not always able to share details and that's okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, please email me 'Handle with Care'. Nothing else will be said or asked . This will let me know that your child may need extra support that day.
