By now students are easily able to locate their classroom when they arrive in the morning. Should they need any assistance there are many staff members floating around to help. Currently I still accompany students to dismissal at the end of the day. As soon as they are able, they will be dismissed from the classroom in an orderly fashion as each bus arrives and is dismissed, with staff members available to help when needed. Thank you for your patience as we make sure that each child gets to the appropriate person, bus or day care van. For your child’s safety, it is important that I receive written notice of any change to your child’s departure routine. You can e-mail me but make sure I have confirmed receipt of it or assume I haven’t read it. Sometimes e-mail from outside the district is slow or I am unable to check before school due to meetings so if you do not get confirmation, please contact the school office at 614-717-6617 to be sure the message is conveyed. Only names listed on Infinite Campus are able to pick up your child and should be prepared to show a picture ID. If you are dropping your child off in a car, please enter through the Bright Road entrance and follow the counter-clockwise loop around the back playground area. We have painted designated spots for five cars to pull up at a time. Please follow these guidelines:
Students should not exit the car until they are in one of the designated drop off spots.
To support an efficient and safe drop off/pick up, students may ONLY EXIT on the PASSENGER SIDE of the car.
Parents/guardians need to remain in their car. Staff on duty can assist in opening the car door for your child if needed.
Pull all the way up to allow more cars to drop off at one time.
Afternoon Transportation Changes:
If alternate transportation is needed on any given day, please email BOTH your student’s classroom teacher as well as, hopewell_info@dublinschools.net or send a note with your child to be given to their teacher and the office. If a note/email is not received, the child will go home as they normally do. Be sure to discuss any transportation changes with your student prior to arriving at school. For any emergency transportations changes made AFTER 3:00 PM, you must call the front office at 614-717-6617.
Bus Information:
Please visit your family’s Infinite Campus account to access your child’s specific transportation information. Kindergarten families will receive a phone call from their student’s bus driver.
Each student is featured for one week during the school year. Each day during that week features a different activity. Friday of your child’s week will be “Family Friday”. Please mark your calendar based on the assignment you received (purple sheet), as changing your date would have a domino effect. Students are very disappointed if they don’t have any guests on their day so please make every effort to have one or more family members there on that date. Our kindergartner of the week is also our Number Corner helper for the week.
This year kindergartners will eat lunch at school. Lunch is at noon. Students may pack, buy or pack and just purchase milk. Menus are published monthly and there is always a vegetarian option.
Breakfast/Lunch
To purchase school meals, you can send in lunch money with your child or you can set up an account for your child by creating a Pay School Account. If you set up a Pay School account, your student will be able to use their lunch number to pay for their breakfast/ lunch in the cafeteria, rather than handling money. Additionally we encourage you to please fill out the Free/Reduced meal application as soon as possible. Paper copies of the application in multiple languages will be available in the school office. Please call the office if you need assistance in filling this form out. Free/Reduced Meal Applications must be filled out EVERY YEAR in order to qualify. Meal prices are as follows: Breakfast $1.50 and Lunch $2.55. The breakfast/lunch menus are posted at this link: https://dublincity.sodexomyway.com/landing/elem
We will not be eating any snacks in class. This includes birthdays. The only exceptions are the PTO provided treats for Harvest and Winter parties. If your child has allergies, I encourage you to be involved in the party planning, either on the planning team or by making a phone call to the party planners to make sure your child’s individual needs are being met. PTO provided snacks are typically Smart Pop popcorn, Oreos and Capri Suns. These tend to work for most diets and allergies. If this doesn't work for your child, please let me know.
Birthdays are celebrated by singing to the child and then he/she moves their clothes pin to the next age. They are not permitted to bring in edible birthday treats. Non-edible treats are permitted such as stickers, pencils, etc.
Another birthday option is to buy a book, puzzle or game to donate to the class or library in the child’s name. As for birthday invitations and gifts - If your child has invitations, gifts or thank you notes for another student(s), please do not send them to school unless the entire class is invited, these will be returned home to you.
We are unable to hand these out. Please send through the mail or deliver to homes. Kindergartners easily get hurt feelings if they are left out. If you have an electronic invitation that you would like me to forward via email to the entire class, I can do that, but only if all children are invited.
