Hopewell Related Arts rotate on an ABCD basis.
Students are asked to store their library book in backpacks so they always have it with them on library day. Of course, remove it to read it, but then return it to the backpack. It also protects from younger siblings and pets.
Due to full day kindergarten, there will be no regular homework. Our first homework was to make a book box to store our paper books in. The second homework was to do a 'Heart Map' to aid us in Writing Workshop. There will be occasional project/presentations and you will have plenty of notice for those. See below for more info.
You have already received three assignments. See your individual paper for dates.
purple paper - Kindergartner of the Week
blue - Letter Presentation
yellow - Newsminutes
A tip about presentations: 5-6 year olds have short attention spans - text on a poster tends to slow down the presentations and causes kids to get fidgety. Please limit posters to pictures only, labels are ok, but no other text.
Toys– Please keep toys at home. They can be distractions. They also often get lost or broken.
Umbrellas are unnecessary for the short trip from the door to the bus or vice versa. Umbrellas can be lethal weapons in kindergarten. :)
Water Bottles - Please send in individual water bottles and please be sure they are clearly labeled with your child's name.
Restroom - There is a single, shared restroom in our classroom. Please have students use the bathroom before coming to school to avoid emergencies upon arrival. Also, if they could forgo drinking an entire bottle of water before school, that would also be appreciated.
