Dublin Scioto High School received its name due to the closeness of the Scioto River. Dublin’s location on the Scioto River made it an ideal place to settle. Native Americans and settlers, alike, traveled on the Scioto River in order to trade their goods and get from one place to another. The name Scioto probably comes from the Iroquois word for “deer”.
Dublin Scioto opened in the fall of 1995 and was Dublin’s 2nd high school. The opening of Scioto High School caused the original Dublin High School to be renamed, as there could not be two Dublin High Schools.
