Deer Run Elementary opened its doors in the fall of 1980. This school is named after its location next to Deer Run Creek. This creek joins Indian Run, at the North Fork, and ultimately flows into the Scioto River.
The Deer Run Elementary attendance area was originally part of the Jerome school system. In 1952 Jerome schools and the Washington Local School District (Dublin) decided to join together in order to provide better education for both communities and prevent Hilliard and Worthington from taking them over.
