Transition planning is a vital process to helping students grow. Two areas we focus upon within the school district include early intervention as well as IEP students from 14 years old to the time the accept their diploma.
The Dallas School District works collaboratively with the county Early Intervention Programs to assist families in a smooth transition into school age. Guidelines are more detailed in the Early Intervention section.
At the age of 14, students are invited to there annual IEP. At the age of 14, transition planning begins to look at a students preferences, interests, and strengths. The overall goal is to begin the process early so we engage students, and help them connect with resources and experiences that will assist them in being successful in meeting their post-secondary goals.
