Exchange Rate: Destination Planning
Economics
I was assigned with designing an itinerary for a destination of my choice (I chose Greece) and creating an approximate budget with expenses using exchange rates. Through this project I demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of currency exchange concepts, including factors affecting exchange rates, appreciation, depreciation, and their impact on net exports.
Economics
Throughout the semester I was tasked with completing checkpoints within the Bank of America Financial Literacy platform to get experience with different aspects of banking such as credit scores, interest, emergency funds, etc.
Defining the Monster
PBL Project
In our 12th Grade PBL project, my group members and I were tasked with creating a short film showcasing monstrosity integrating ELA, Math, Economics, and Anatomy. Monsters often symbolize societal issues such as alienation, prejudice, and the fear of the 'other.' This project allowed us to explore what it means to be a "monster," both in literal and metaphorical terms. Our film showcases how large corporate organizations overwork their employees. The film shows the routine of workers toiling away. The workers eat, sleep, and work, work, work at the company. There is a Loudspeaker giving instructions to the workers, commanding them throughout the day, most importantly there is a queue for all workers to take their pills. There is also a curfew. Monotonous shots are taken of the people working, and coworkers disappearing if quotas aren’t filled.
AP Statistics
My groupmate (Waverly) & I desgined an experiment that we would like to conduct and had to pitch it to an audience (our classmates). We had to explain each process of the experiment and discuss elements of the experiments thoroughly. These include confounding variables, treatment groups, random assignment, variables of the experiment, etc. We chose to research AI grading English papers vs. human teachers. This helps in determining whether bias is present and what may impact the grade of an essay.
AP Biology
This gizmo in the form of a digital lab helped me understand what karyotyping is and I learned that it can provide information about a person’s sex and what chromosomal disorders they have but they cannot provide information on specific traits that are in a person’s genes.
AP Biology
Through this gizmo I learned that before division, the cells need to duplicate its DNA to make sure that each daughter cell receives a full set of DNA. Additionally, if cell division is not controlled it could lead to cancer where tumors grow because cells are growing too fast without close regulation.
