Geometry
Cubism, pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, breaks down objects into geometric forms and reassembles them in an abstract way. Shapes may overlap, be viewed from multiple perspectives, or be fragmented into smaller sections. Our assignment was to create an image using cubism and incoorperating 5 3d shapes which was a pyramid, rectangualr prism, cyldinder, and a cube. I chose to create the face of a man. I feel like the cone was the easiest to use and and the cube was the hardest. Geometry changes the way you think about art because now you can spot different shapes in every work of art
Chemistry
I feel like if the period table was made in a different historical and cultural context I feel like the periodic table would have probably been made more organized and made faster. The element names would probably incoorperate diverse cultural names. I feel like the periodic table would prioritize more accurate sizes and properties of the element more early on as opposed to having unknown values when first starting off. In conclusion the periodic table would reflect a more diverse range of people outiside of europe because that it mainly where the discoveries were made by men, they would have less bias towards places where elements were found and the table would probably have more diverse color schemes, symbols, names, and it would probably include elements that are indigenous to their culture.
World Literature
Today we were introduced to writing a thesis and i learned that a thesis is the introduction to your argument and it should be an opinion. It is not supposed to be a fact because in your essay, you thesis is backed up by facts to prove you point correct. I also learned that a thesis shoulsd be concise, and coherant because it should only be about 1 or 2 sentences.
Today we finished making our video and recipe cards. Our recipies are based off of ingredients that each member of our group identifies with and we chose to make a parfait. Our video consisted of us talking about how food and identity are related, what happened in the book persepolis, and we expained specifically how we identfied with each ingrediant listed.
We finished editing and I am very pleased with the outcome. We also completed a presentation form and established what each person in the group was going to do to present our movie. We decided that we were going to talk about how we want to highlight the acheivments and culture of our society in our movie.
We are still editing and so far it is looking really good, we added lots of visuals like captions, and even music to it so that our movie is more interesting. The only other problem I have been having is the quality of our video because it looks a little blurry, but I transfered the video to another app so hopefully I can resolve this issue.
Today we started to edit our movie and since it was the first day, I would say I got a lot done but it was very diffucult to start because I have never edited before. Once i got the fuctions of the editing app down it slowly got easier for to use certain fuctions like the green screen for example which was the hardest for me to use.
Today was our final day of recording and we got every scene done. I think todays work was very productive and once we finish editing our movie will look really good. Our movie didn't really have a happy ending considering everyone died but due to the fact that the indus river valley civilization almost disapeared after the aryans took over it made sense for our movie
The third day we started getting in the groove of things and we did scene 3 of our movie and this was the more climactic scene. There was a big fight scene on the field and i thnk it went really well
The second day of recording was okay. We got the scene done but we ran into some problems along the way because our mics weren't working. After wer got it resolved we kept going and fninshed. We did scene 2 of our movie and this was more of a rising action scene to keep viewers hooked. There was a big turn of events at the end too.
This was our first time recording so it did not go too well. I wore a traditional indian dress for this scene and it was a little difficult getting it on but after everything got better. We used a green screen for this scene and in the background we are going to have the indus river valley city to start off our exposition and giving context.
we planned out which outfits we wanted to wear based off of traditional indian attire. We researched what things that men and women would wear and made a list of who needed what. We also included our weapons we needed and made a flyer so people would come to see our presentions.
Today we had improv actors from a company called "dads garage" come in and teach what acting and improv is all about. We started by playing some games and then we used characters from our movie and embodied what we thought they would actually be like.
We did a table read and heard each groups script and then gave feedback on a google form about how we felt. Some question we answered about the other groups we like "How was the pacing of the script" and, "Are the transitions logical" We also gave glows and grows for the groups too.
We have now finished our story with a resolution and we made a cast list with our names on it. We are now trying to finalize what constumes we want to wear, what bakgrounds we want to have, and even what songs we will use in different scenes.
We have progressed throught the story, creating more text for the climax and resolution of the story, I collaborated with my group to set final roles, start learning lines, and even talking about some costume designs we can incoporate into our movie to make it the best it can be.
As a group, we prepared to create our short film about an ancient civilization. We chose the indus river valley civilization and then we did reaserch about the Geography, religion, acheivments, politics, economics, and the society
CHEMVAS
The reaction used in this experiment was combustion. When the spoon is heated up on the candle flame, it created carbon. We used the carbon from the flame and collected it. We put arabic gum to combine the alcohol with the sut and made ink with it.Our ink was successful because made lots of sut and did mutiple rounds.
Chemistry relates to paper making by the breakdown of wood pulp into cellulose fibers through chemical processes and allowing the fibers to separate and form a wet pulp that can then be dried into paper by dissolving lignin. Handmade paper could be an art form because there are many different colors and textures of paper you can use to make your paper uniqe and to express yourself
We used blueberries, rubber bands, a cloth, and vinegar . We had to decide if we wanted to use blueberries or red cabbage for our dyeing process and we chose blueberries. We used the vinegar to make the dye lighter and then once we were satisfied with our color, we dunked our cloth in once we folded it 12 times to get our desired pattern. The dye chemically bonded to the fibers in the cloth, making sure that when you wash it, the color doesnt come out.
We used the broken brush and ink to do a Chinese style painting. I Diped my dry brush in ink and the proccess was to paint with the brush until the ink runs out so that the background would have lighter strokes. I created a wildfire scene and the darker strokes are the areas where i first started painting. Ink is a chemical compund that acts as an adhesive to the paper , making it so that the inkn never washes out because it is bonded to the paper
Me and my partner made weaving that represents ionic bonds similar to the paper weaving we made, but instead we weaved usuing yarn and carboard as our base. We took a pencil and weaved through each color and then pulled the yarn through so that it gave a checkered look.
Me and my partner made weaving that represents ionic bonds because they are bonds that transfer electrons. Both colors represented in the patterns are opposite colors, and since i chose to represent and ionic bond, it was relevent because ionic bonds have opposites that attract. Red and yellow are opposites on the color wheel, as well as purple and green.
I used STEAM subjets in this projects by combinding Chemestry and art together to make an image that represents the elements I have, I also learned why mercury is used and how it is differnt in other forms. I was creative by using colors that correspond to the symbol used like using the color silver for my battery because mercury is silver and used to make batteries. My drawing has the atomic number and symbol on the top of the battery, with the word mercury on the side of it. There are different elements of art on the drawing like lines. Different lines flow differently. Some lines are wavy, while some are more straight. The principles of design that are most important in my work are balance to make sure my drawing looks more uniform and not lopsided.
This Mandala is from India from the first century B.C.E. Mandala's are used for many different things including meditation, decoration or to practice gratitude. They show up in different parts of world civilizations because they are believed to show different aspects of the universe. The principals of designs I see are patterns, repetition, and variety.
For this project we created an environment based on the element we researched. My element was Osmium which is used in the tips of fountain pens. My idea was to make an image of someone signing their name on a painting they made with a fountain pen. The atmospheric perspective that I used were the mountains in the background of my image. It was very difficult to choose different fonts on photopea and I used sketch.io to choose a calligraphy type font that I wanted. If i did it again, I would add more shadows and detail.
We experimented with different perspectives and used vanishing points and perspective lines to create and image of the hallway. We faced one way downt the hall and drew it as we saw it, making the smallest part of the drawing the focal point.
Today we learned how different types of compoositions convey different messages to the viewer depending on the shape. For example, if you use diagonal lines it creates a sense of motion and direction. In my compositions I used a star as my focal point and used diagonal lines coming off of it to give it a leading point.
On this assigment we worked with lines and created differnt names for each line based off of the feeling we got from it. We also looked into Sol Lewitts work because he would give instrutions on how to make the art and then sell it. We made our own versions of his work and experimented on how easy it was for others to follow the instructions
Art is a form of expression, whether that be physical art, like paintings, drawings, writing, and other types of 3D art. It can be digital art mde with any type of technology, and in my opinion you can use your body to express different forms of art like singing and dancing. I think lots of things can be considered to be art, because it is really subjective and it depends on what that specific person thinks about how it may classified. I think that the subject literature can be considered art too because when you are making a body of written work, the author communicates and expresses ideas to the reader. This shows off how an author wants to express themselves through writing and it potrays their creativity in what they wrote.
