The goal of this project was to make pottery and table items that represent the Columbian Exchange. The different classes assignment’s were related because we did other assignments related to food from the Columbian Exchange. For art class, I made different pieces of Native American pottery. We also learned to make different styles of pottery. My group and I decided to make pottery with certain designs to show the Native American style. The geometric patterns that I implemented into my art was how I showed the Native American design. We brainstormed, divided up the work, and created our art using techniques learned in class. After firing, we applied our glaze, and fired again. This relates to the Columbian Exchange because we used art from an area involved in the Columbian Exchange. In this project, my design on our plate turned out good, but my glaze didn’t come out the way I expected. If I had more time, I work strive to create a good coil because I never made one worth keeping and forgot to document it.
