This was one of the first volunteering tasks I did for my senior year. In my volunteering class, we had to set up food packages for people who go hungry. These food packages contained drinks, granola bars, chips, canned foods, and other foods that would help people who were going hungry. We selected these foods because of their long life and are packaged.
During the majority of my senior year, I spent time working on my volunteer hours. I took a class to assist me with this and I slowly started to work more and more. I mainly volunteered down at Drew Charter's elementary campus, working and continuin. maintenance for the additional playspace behind the building. This space was known as the "Tinker Yard", being a place where you get to tinker with small gadgets and machines. The Tinkeryard was very popular with the students at the elementary but due to Covid, it slowly wore down and needed some renovations. The elementary did have people working in the Tinker Yard but progress was very slow, so some of the highschoolers including me, helped out. Some of the machines I worked on included an instrument that could be played when struck. This needed the most work due to how large it was. I worked on providing a new base for the instrument and it took a while but a lot of progress was made! Now the Tinker Yard looks a lot better than what it used to be but some additional gadgets are still being built today
