For the final project in Intro Art, we did a portrait of a picture we took. Based of the picture, I selected a color sceme that fit the piece. My color sceme was monochromatic blue, only having different shades and tints of blue. Alot went into the drawing of the picture. I had to be very persice when drawing the face, I did this by using grid lines by using a ruler, making every unit of the grid 2 inches long. After drawing, I got my paint, only having blue, white, and black. I spent alot trying to find the correct shades and tints, continuously mixing black and white with blue. After weeks of progress, I finally finished the full painting
Here is my finished Tessellation from last semester. This project was ok for me, not liking or disliking it. The longest part of the tessellation was the fish, drawing out every individual scale, colouring in each scale with clean lines, and then working on the bird who took a significantly less time to create.
After working on each creature, the process became a whole lot easier, because the rest of the process was now all digital. We used Adobe Photoshop to make the Tessellation. Even though making it repeat was simple, angling both pieces to make them fit was probably the hardest part digitally.
This project is about "Shadow Boxes". The box I'll make has a subway station as the background. The experience is that the subway is active and people are waiting for and using the active subway. The experience does relate to me in a way when I rode the Marta. I rode the Marta with a group of people for a trip over the summer. That was the first time I rode a subway train and I wanted that to relate to my Shadow Box.
One additional thing, when doing the layers, we can select one colour to use for the shadow box (like a monochromatic colour scheme) but we can also use tints and shades of a colour (like red, pink, and maroon). I selected a red colour scheme because I want to use shades of red that I find appealing an would pop out in a shadow box like this one.
When I was in 9th Grade Literature, we did a whole project surrounding the famous book Purple Hibiscus. There were multiple parts of this, including this essay. This essay was basically a detailed summary on how the main character changed through the story and how it shows character dynamics. We had to go through this essay step by step, using a certain format for writing the essay, mainly talking about the main character and comparing/contrasting her and the main cast to their foils. When the essay was done, we had extra assignments to do afterward. For the final exam for this project was a discussion on this project and the ending chapters of the book (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cV5zm9TLdvKWzdac0mPLbD4UNiJ0-V9-Dek6wWrHqSk/edit)
Way after we finished the Purple Hibiscus project, we had this one hot and ready for us to finish. After learning more about the Shakespearean tale, we did a little extra to make this special. Our class prepared a field trip to Shakespeare's Tavern to see a live play of the classic tale. Thats not all though, we additionally watched the 1996 movie adaptation of the classic. After both expiriences, it was finally time to work on this little project. What we needed to do was to remake the ending of the 1996 movie adaptation into something else completely unique. This was a group project that I did with two of my closer friends in this class. One of our group members decided to make it an unpredicted ending, and so we followed. When finished, each group including ours had to present our project and was generally well liked with an odd but appropriate ending (https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ywUC2ss4Xy6_UDlQIRpgjs-EUiBJKXb0KT2NmIhGwtE/edit#slide=id.g554558d148_1_5)
In Physics, it was a slow but interactive class with interactive projects to boot! For our last project in the class, we learned about the different types of circuits (Series, Parallel, Complex) and did respected lab activities for each type, but after learning about all three, he revealed the final project, to build a functioning house with only these types of circuits and household materials. Luckily for me, it was a group project so I had an extra pair of hands to help me work on the cardboard house. One of the many ideas we did is that the door would open, and the lights would automatically turn on via a connected battery on the back of the door and it would touch the wall.
For an even more fun sidenote, we learned about how something like a trampoline park could relate to Physics, but we somehow did a whole survey and assignment about it! Before we went to the park, we did a survey on how we felt about shcool and general physical activity affect one's mood. Suprisingly, this wasnt a Health Class project, but we continued as normal. We answered some questions on how we felt before and after going to the park.
For one of the few projects I did in Geometry, I did one about ramps used for people in wheelchairs. This was a long and tedious process but an end product did get finished. In the way beginning, we had to get in groups and calculate to see if our design fit the guidelines of ADA. After getting our design validated, we worked on the elevations of the ramp followed by a diagram of each of the supplied plywood sheets fitting together. Another step was to repeat this process but for concrete if the client wanted a concrete ramp instead of a plywood one. Finally, we had to send a recommendation letter with a 3-D model for them to approve
