The Chess and Board Game club was my main club during 9th, 10th and 12th grade. I actually co-created this club with a very close friend of mine, Jamari. Both of us are fans of table-top games and anything similar, so we wanted to make a little club about it. This club mainly focuses on games that require face to face interaction, so usually table-top games or card games. During the 9th and 10th grade, we also had seniors joining our club, joining in the fun activities. We were trying to get a chess team built up but we had to little people, so we just focused more on the board games. This club slowly became my new hangout spot during my highschool years and I gotta say, it was pretty fun while I was there!
Drew Charter School gave students opportunities for many things during the years and this was mainly from a group who wanted to give back to Drew. The Drew Opportunity Fund was a fund where parents of Drew Students could support the fund and help out with events at Drew such as "Teacher Appreciation Week". In addition, there were a couple of spots open for the team who needed another pair of hands to help it grow. I took the internship and started working with them to show what Drew gave me over the years. What I did while in this internship was very simple but reached a lot of people. We usually made posts on social media about what Drew did to give us opportunities and to show where we are at now. I made posts about how Drew gave me the chance to do Dual Enrollment, representing my school at Georgia State University. This little internship actually helped me get the chance to participate in Dual Enrollment and I am very greatful for it.
