For my first essay for AP Language, I compared and contrasted Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X's views on education. My thesis was, "  Both men had to go through different experiences regarding being educated and how education is essential but both points of view are entirely valid."  Writing this essay, I learned the importance of a defensible thesis, how to select specific evidence, and the significance of commentary.
