Short Version:
Draw an insect.
Trace your insect with washable marker.
Trace all marker with white school glue.
Once glue is totally dry, paint over/around your piece. The paint will RESIST the glue, and you will have a fantastic, textured composition.
*Please note - the beetle image shown here does not have any paint, but is simply glue and marker.

Quick Tips and Tricks
Keep your shapes big and far apart - tracing with glue does not allow for fine details, and they will get lost as the glue spreads out on the paper.
Be patient, the glue will slowly absorb the washable marker as it dries. It's fun to see the shift from white glue to whatever color is underneath it!
You don't have to add paint - if you prefer, you can draw and color your entire piece, and then trace it all with glue.
