Monochromatic Painted Patterns

Overview - For this lesson, artists will use their knowledge of the color wheel to create a monochromatic painted pattern.

VOCABULARY:

  • Pattern - a repetition of specific visual elements

  • Monochromatic - the tints, shades and tones of a single hue

  • Overlapping - The placement of objects over one another in order to create the illusion of depth

MATERIALS: pencil, heavy paper, one main paint hue (any color from the color wheel) along with white and black, a paint brush, water, and a sharpie (optional).
