During Reading/Viewing

To support students as they read/view a text...

• Remind students to use comprehension strategies as they read/view the text and to monitor their understanding.

• Ask questions that keep students on track and focus their attention on the main ideas and important points in the text.

• Focus the students' attention on parts of the text that require them to make inferences.

• Call on students to summarise key parts or events.

• Encourage students to return to any predictions they have made before reading/viewing to see if they are confirmed by the text.
