North Salem Elementary Families,
It is my hope that our May Newsletter finds all of our North Salem families well and enjoying the spring season. It continues to amaze me how quickly a school year can pass. Our students have worked extremely hard this past school year. We have seen countless examples of P.R.O.U.D. behaviors. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of your child's education and of our collective school community.
Students in grades three, four, and five finished the state assessments (PSSA) on Friday, May 3. Students in all three grades showed outstanding dedication and work ethic in taking these assessments seriously and working to the best of their ability. While education is far more than a standardized test score, we do use this data in making educational and instructional decisions as a school and as a district. We appreciate the effort all of our students put into these assessments. The school will be receiving raw assessment data over the summer months. Families should expect to see their individual student's assessment results next fall.
During the first full week of May (May 6 to 10) DASD and NSE will recognize Teacher Appreciation Week. Our entire staff works tirelessly to create a safe and productive learning environment for the near 400 students who attend school at NSE. Through constant collaboration and communication, our building's staff strives to meet the needs of our students. Thank you staff for everything you do on a daily basis for our students and school!
Finally, I want to wish our fifth grade students and families well as they make a transition into the next chapter of their education. By continuing to focus on PROUD behaviors, I am confident you will be successful at the middle school level and beyond. Your North Salem family will be watching as you do great things!
Please take care and be well!
